Jagdchieftain WIP

Hi, just finised the construction stage of my scratch/kitbashed JagdChieftain. I’m going for a “in service” look so I’ve added NBC, radio antennas, smoke discharges and used a MK11 cupola rather than slavishly copying the CTR.

Interesting concept. Where does the driver sit?
Ken

Driver sits on right looking from the front, he was also the gunner, it used a different steering system to a regular Chieftain which doubled as the gun laying equipment. The loader also had a set of controls so he could drive it out of danger backwards. Crew of 3 Driver/gunner, loader/second driver and Commander.

Cool concept, kinda like an “S” tank on steroids!

That’s fun! I’ve done the same thing with a Sherman but never finished it. I could not decide on Jagdsherman or Shermgeschutz as the better name. Camouflaging conjectural vehicles is also really fun because anything is possible.

Well Heinz is finished, Overall I’m pleased with the result of my imagining of JagdChieftain in service. I’ve taken liberties by using WWII German numbers and the name Heinz (because it’s bits of everything so a Heinz 57 in old Army speak) in a German font. The rest of the markings are generic late 1970s early 1980s British as is the camo, I chickened out of a 3 colour ambush scheme, which interestingly was actually trialed in the late 1960s in BAOR but found to be “ineffective” The model uses the old TAMIYA kit as a doner and various grebbles for the spares box along with shed loads of plastic card and a Takom Masterclub track mix. It sits on my “Base of Doom” for these photos which I use to spur me into creating something far better as I hate the “flat base, diagonal road with token tree/telephone pole and bit of grass” seen with so many armour models.

You could always do the flat concrete with nothing else motorpool base!

Now that is pretty cool!

Congratulations on finishing your conjectural tank destroyer! It definitely captures the aggressive demeanor of a Jagdpanzer IV. Your comment about the base made me laugh. In my opinion, it would look good hiding behind or berm or hedgerow, waiting to engage invading Russian tanks.

Thank you, I was thinking along the same lines for the base, or maybe going downhill through trees.

I agree. I think too many people have drunk the Kool-Aid on that “no parallel lines” thing. And unless I make this statement one of the “purists” will speak up so…
Yes, I know it’s Flavor-Aid. But no one ever says “I’m not drinking the Flavor-Aid” do they?

Cool concept, and actually believable in its execution.
