Jagdpanzer IV 70 (A) August 1944 prod

Hi
I’m planing in close future complete Jagdpanzer IV 70 (A), August 1944 production - they were early Jpz IV/70 with all “normal” Pz. IV wheels ans Zimmerit - and I know only photo of this one vehicle painted overall Dunkelgelb. in Dragons instruction is this scheme:

Have someone photo of this vehicle?
or other photos of zimmerited Vomag Jpz IV/70 ?

I’ve made their kit without Zimmerit and used that scheme as it came with the kit. It may be correct for a later vehicle, although Dragon give the same scheme for the earlier vehicle with Zimmerit that you’re making, which sheds doubt on the validity of either (see below). If it is right, it won’t be for an August 1944 production vehicle for this unit. Here’s why. I’ve subsequently learnt that the early short barrelled Jagdpanzer IVs supplied to SS Panzerjager Abteilung 9 were given additional armour on the casemate using concrete, like some Stugs, but more extensive. It’s very noticeable in photos. In September 1944, “Hohenstaufen” vehicles were all the L48 version with the concrete; photos taken around the “Market Garden” period confirm this. I have become rather sceptical of some manufacturers suggested schemes, since I made the Border Mobelwagen, which gave a spurious scheme with snow camouflage for “Hohenstaufen” in Hungary, when they were actually still in the Ardennes!

Photos that clearly show Zimmerit and/or camo patterns on early L/70 are nigh on impossible to find. Take these with a gain of salt.

I found this:

description say that it’s L/70, but I’m not sure… we can’t see barrel

I too searched for that particular tank before & didn’t find much

However I found this one from the same unit, not the same but very similar

Also has no Zimmerit

Number 923 or 392 from Hohenstaufen in Hungary 1945

Also another reference to another Dragon Jagdpanzer IV Marking

Jagdpanzer IV L-48 Warsaw Late August 1944
