So coming home from work today I saw a military convoy with a lot of JLTV’s on semi trailers. Quite a few of them looked like SECM variants. Made me wonder, would the SECM “module” be the same as what was used by the HUMVEE???

I don’t know if the Humvee contact is the exact same as the JLTV but it is close. I have coverage of the contact variant in my upcoming WWP book on the JLTV. There are not as many shelter-type variants of the JLTV as the Humvee but there are a few. The contact may be the most common, at least in the Army.
Almost certainly not. The architecture is different. It’s could be feasible to do an extremely costly and time consuming refit. (the kind suggested by some of our members here for 1/35 kits) You could graft a Hind cockpit onto JLTV if you really wanted to, but why? Another consideration is converting AC power to DC. That requires even further modifications to the JLTV. Easier to modiy the module than the vehicle.
In the case of the contact vehicles I photographed a few months ago they were taken from M1152s. It appears adjustments were made to make a snugger fit on the JLTV, such as what looks like rubber bumper stops and inserts of some sort on the bottom. Again, I suppose to make for a snug fit on the JLTV as well as preventing metal on metal shaking while at speed. One or two I saw were even crooked from use/transport.
Besides that, I’m sure the mounting brackets for the vehicle bed are the main way the humvee contact fits appropriately to the JLTV bed.

The next time I’m in the motor pool I’ll check to see if there are more than one type of contact add-on.
I was able to see more contact JLTVs. There are two types of modules, both from the Humvee. There is a SECM-LT, which has one fold up door on each side. Then there is a standard SECM. It has split fold up doors on the sides, and fold up steps on the rear of the module.
I’m waiting for my JLTV book to be edited and so I need to be mindful of the images.
