And to my surprise it worked out very comfortably … pre-painting and weathering of the tracks was so much easier and faster. The fit is also very good … I only needed insert one track link to close the two parts
This tank/camo is well documented tank was handed over to the 1.SS PzReg. after trails around Oct.1944. I believe the Regiment received around 5-6 Steel-Wheel versions. Apparently they were distributed “exclusively” to the Platoon-Leaders the bulk going to the 2. Company.
I can confirm 211, 221, 201 with a very similar camo scheme,
and 231 being the most promising candidate being the trail vehicle … If anyone can assist with any kind of additional information would be greatly appreciated.
Wheels dilemma …
I collected all the spares and leftovers from other kits.
But I am short on a few inner road wheels in the correct size.
Having a complete set of the Tamiya kit on hand these are about 2mm larger.
I am still in dispute with myself if to go with the larger Tamiya wheels … since difference is only 2mm in diameter which I could live with since their overall detail is still quite good …
Christopher, who makes these miracle 3D printed tracks, you didn’t mention?
Also, Just IMHO - I wouldn’t mix those wheels, the difference is clearly noticeable.
