KittyHawk 1/35 HH-60G PaveHawk Helicopter

Hi, my name is Wang, I’m from China. This is a 1/35 HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter that I recently completed. I made some modifications, such as adding a refueling probe, chaff, and machine gun ammunition belts. The decals that came with the kit weren’t very good, but I solved it by using a hot air gun.Thank you for watching!

That is a fabulous helicopter build. Using a hot air gun on the decals is a trick I’ve not heard of, thanks for sharing that. Again that is a first rate build and welcome aboard!

This is the heat gun I mentioned. I’m not sure if that’s what it’s called where you are. When using it, be careful not to blow continuously for more than 2 seconds, otherwise the plastic parts will deform due to the high temperature. You can blow in small amounts multiple times. Before blowing, make sure to place the decals in the correct position. Alternatively, you can soften the decals with heat and soak them in water before applying them. This will protect the plastic parts, but the decals will be very soft.

Well first of all, welcome along to the forum. That is a superb looking helicopter and like @Wig41 I have also not heard of using a hot air gun for the decals- but the results are top class. Thank you for sharing both that technique and your build with us.

You’ve managed to overcome that kit’s shortcomings and then some. Phenomenal build.

I suppose faint praise is better than none at all.

Love me some black hawk builds! Gorgeous result! Those decals turned out top notch!
