Looking for info on NZ3255. Know to be a Kittyhawk IV, entered service in 44. Beyond that ??? What Sqn? Any history? NZ3255 P-40N-20 31185 43-23246 - Assembled by No.1 Aircraft Depot, Hobsonville and BoC at Hobsonville on 09 February 1944.
Photo of it post service at Rukuiha. See Search | Wings Over New Zealand
Poor bird. Definitely see better days. Thanks. Trying to find info /photos of her in service. Found a decal set for her but doesnt show where the decals go, and looks like the sheet just has national markings and s/n. No sqn codes are visible (that I can tell) on the sheet.
If no sqn codes then reflects time it was serving in the Pacific. The light blue roundel colour is now generally believed to be incorrect and the yellow around wing roundels is absolutely wrong. Fuselage only had yellow surrounds.
Guess that simplifies things. Back to looking for different P-40N markings.
