Fantastic video full of interesting information
how did I miss this??
The Klingon D7 has long been one of my favorite fictional spaceship designs. My best friend likes it even more. Many years ago, when we regularly played Star Fleet Battles, the D5, D7, D7C, and C7 were his favorites ships. I painted quite a few Klingon ships for gaming but never owned or built a D7 model.
Years ago I built one from Star Trek VI, but it was seriously damaged inbetween moving during the college years. So a few months ago I picked up the Kronos One issue from Polar Lights. I’m planning to build it in the spring. It is a super cool design, one of Star Treks best IMHO.
The D7 from Star Trek: The Motion Picture is probably my favorite. I do not know if Kronos One is different. Some day, I would like to purchase and build some form of D7 in 1/350 scale. Where to store it? No clue.
Here’s some detail photos of the studio model of Kronos 1.
It’s a repaint of the K’tinga from TMP. Mostly greys, reds and decorative detail added from etched brass. I believe the Polar Lights kit of Kronos 1 does include a fret for these. Somewhere I’ve got the old AMT Undiscovered Country boxing, but it’s just rebox of the old kit with nothing new added. Might have to look for it.
It’s a brilliant model full of detail. Klingon ships make a stark contrast to the more elegant and neat Starfleet ships.
wow thanks for sharing!
No worries, happy to help.
The D-7 and K’tinga are some of my favourites Trek ships. My others are the Enterprise refit, Reliant, Grissom (totally impractical design that only works with a crew of hobbits, but it looks bloody cool!), Defiant and Bird of Prey.
this will really help when I start building the 1/350th kit next year!
Cool. Hope you do a build thread. Would be good to see it done. I wouldn’t mind it myself, but from a practical side it’s just a little too big!
