Hi mates!
Here’s my new 1/32 scale Bf 109 K-4 from Kotare.
A brief note on the historical model:
The K-series marked the pinnacle of Bf 109 development of the “Kurfuerst”. Only the K-4 was built in any significant number.
The G-series, with its many sub-variants, was revised and standardized. Improvements were also made to the engine (DB 605 DM), armament (MK 108 as engine-mounted cannon, two MG 131 machine guns above the engine), and wings. The K also received larger wheels, covers for the main landing gear, and a retractable tailwheel. Mechanical landing gear position indicators were also integrated on the upper wing surfaces. Together with the Fw 190 D and the Ta 152, the K allowed the Luftwaffe to catch up with Allied piston-engine aircraft like the Spitfire and Mustang in terms of performance.
All I can say about this kit is………Superb!!!
Great details, good fit, and few parts (134), which is pure balm for an impatient modeler like me.
The only aftermarket parts were Quickboost machine gun barrels and stretchable yarn for the antenna wire and canopy support.
It was painted with colors from Mr. Hobby (RLM 74, 75, 76, 81, 82), Tamiya (RLM 66), and Revell.
Weathering was done by oil washes, dry brushing, and the application of pastels.
The figure is from an ICM set and was painted with Revell Aqua Colors.
The airfield image was created by using AI.
There’s currently a debate in my model-building circle about the pros and cons of this type of image manipulation.
I understand the concerns and welcome the discussion.
For me personally, this AI-assisted image processing in the context of a model presentation is purely an addition at the end of the demonstration. A small artistic highlight.
And I will always label images of this kind as such.
My model represents a “Kurfuerst” of Stab III./JG52, flown by Adolf Borchers, spring 1945.
