Kotare is to release their first 1:48 scale kit and a ambitious one too in the form of the Handley Page Halifax Mk.II.

Very welcome, a mainstream kit at last in this scale. Any thoughts on a Sterling to go with it?

Looks like it should be an interesting one to see.
Personally, would prefer 1/72 (envious of anyone who has space for multi-engine bombers at 1/48!) so maybe they’ll scale it down? Don’t know if that’s the sort of thing Kotare do.
Revells effort is long OOP and has shape problems with the engine nacelles. Matchbox is the only other option for a Merlin Halifax.

Everything before (WW) and now has been 1/32. Not saying they wouldn’t but I wouldn’t bet on a 1/72 kit. More likely that could share the design with someone else and they scale it down is a more likely scenario in my opinion, which means diddly squat.

They’re still fairly new to the market aren’t they?
I don’t think I’ve even seen anything from them for sale in the UK yet. I’m not 100% up to speed with the range they do, but I understand they’re niche large scale?
A new range of 1/72 Halifax’s are desperately needed, so it’s a big gap in the market. With any luck Airfix will next year, but I would like to see someone else tackle it. With finer detail and none of the school boy errors Airfix habitually make.

They are the same crew that did Wingnut Wings. So while a new company, they have some production history. Nothing says they can’t go small, historical evidence suggests that is less likely.

Ah that makes sense seeing that they seem to be catering for large scale. I just hope they don’t end the same way WNW did.

Not a subject I’m interested but I’m still glad to see it coming. The Halifax was an important aircraft in WWII that hasn’t gotten much love in 1/48 other than Sanger & Contrail vac kits and the Fonderie Miniature release that was “challenging” to say the least.
