Looks better I think ![]()
I sprayed the jerrycans and the canvas, the wear is with AK chipping fluid. Also I decided to try the AK compatibility thinner for a first time, it works well with Tamiya and Gunze and it has very mild odor, compared to Mr.Leveling thinner. The Gunze caps also fit perfectly. I will use it for thinning from now on.
Cheers!
The canvas roof came out excellent. Nice build!
Thanks! It looks better than the plastic one for sure.
Greetings. Are the four turn signals installed temporarily?
Hi, I didn’t understand the question, what do you mean temporarily?
Cheers!
The photo shows four turn signals instead of two. And two types of installation at once. Early and late.
I see now, sorry my mistake ![]()
+now this model has many features characteristic of Typ 82 models produced in early to mid-1943. Vehicles like this could not have been sent to the African front, but could easily have appeared in the Italian campaign in 1943+. Desert wheels were also used in the Italian campaign.
My idea was for Tunisia diorama, something early 43. Curious about the features you mentioned.
Regards!
In this condition or similar, such a Kubelwagen could have been driven on the Italian front in 1943+. Vehicle parts were often cannibalized due to a shortage of spare parts. It was common to find parts from different years of manufacture on the same vehicle. New parts for this Typ 82 did not make it in time.
What was your reference for the roof canvas? Period photos do not show such large folds of canvas.
And a couple of photos here:
Sorry to say but I think Mr Tamiya’s injection moulded canvas is closer to how much canvas there was, albeit neatly folded up and fastened instead of just dropping the roof down.
@AR_AFV I could remove some of the features (like the front and rear bars) to look like late 1942/early 1943 vehicle.
@Chepster You have a point, canvas should be more neatly folded.
I think the folding is fine, it just needs a lot less canvas.
I will try to make new one, more tightly and less material to see the difference.
You are correct that it will be more appropriate for the Italian front, Sicily maybe. I have two FJ figure painted, could make a small diorama with them.
An excellent solution. The figures can be dressed in the Feldbluse 40 and Feldbluse 43 tropical uniforms.
I actually intended to use this Kubelwagen for those FJ guys some time ago, but totally forgot about this, sorry ![]()
