Kubelwagen type 82, North Africa 1/35 (Tamiya)

Starting this old, but nice kit from Tamiya with some Eduard PE and 3D printed baloon tires from Cults3D:

Additional detailing with PE and 3D printed parts- some I designed like the door handles and the rifle mounts, others are from Cults.

The wheels designs are from this guy, very detailed and affordable and fit nicely. He has other types of wheels too:

Cheers!

Nice beginnings. I’ll be following as I also have this kit in the queue!

I decided to mount a MG34 on the car, so I designed one, ready to print:

MG mount is ready, it will replace the kit part:

MG34 looks good on the mount, some fuel and water jerrycans, also I will add tarps and other stuff on the back. I will adjust the empty belt later.

Cheers!

Had time to put mahogany surfacer and Tamiya DAK light brown 1942 for the base color (RAL 8020). It has slight pinkish hue, which I can’t catch well on the camera, imho is very nice match. I will make some highlights here and there.

Wow, nice work so far!
I do like the design of the 3d printed part. Excited to see the build when its done

I added patches of RAL 7027 with custom mix, also Tamiya rubber for the tires:

Guys, do you know of any DAK soft vehicle drivers, which I can put in the Kubelwagen? The only suitable I could find is from Mantis minatures 35064. I prefer to have several options, but could end with this one.

Cheers!

Tristar/hobby boss’s makes a figure set with a kubel driver. I don’t know if it actually fits.

Thanks, I have these, but they are on the small side. I will look around more.

There’s this chap from SOL Resin:

Not cheap though; around 20 quid in the UK.

Well, we suffer for our art; don’t ask what I paid for my recent acquisition of the 1/35 Hobby Fan M56 Scorpion SPAT(!)

Found it on Super-Hobby, but I will probably use the Mantis one, I don’t quite like the uniform sculpting :slightly_smiling_face:

Actually I don’t like how the plastic soft cover looks like with the mechanism, so I designed one and will make the cover with rolled putty:

Cheers!
