Spot on Mate; best model I’ve seen all year.
From the build, to the details and the setting, really great work catching those formative days of the 60s when so much in warfare was changing, especially in the esoteric field of guided weapons.
The atmospherics are just right; the officer come for a nose around, looking for the blokes who are somewhere close by having a fag, hence the slung webbing (DIACCS stuff is great isnt it?).
This really is a great little model. Well done!
Mate , excellent build and it looks fantastic with how it sits on that base and the remote firing control adds to the realism of a real range set up. Only thing I would say is if it was set up for firing, the missiles would probably be fired facing forward, as if they were released like that the down blast would melt the cab area … The officer looks very good as well and is a nice touch ![]()
That is a spectacular figure (amongst very nice vehicles). If I could paint figures a tenth as well I could call myself a modeler.
Really great work on this Terry- a strange and seldom seen vehicle- it captures the attention well. The small additions like the cabling, the kit and the superbly painted figure make for a cracking vignette.
Thank you so much for your comment mate ..appreciate them ..the Vigilant system has very limited back blast as it was designed to be man portable..so the rear clearance area was very small ..so no risk of vehicle damage or at least minimal..
Thank you ..honestly I’m rubbish at figures but try to improve as I go along .ive been trying a new method of light washing over the figures with really thinned paint ..seems to work
Thank you mate appreciate your comments
Much appreciated mate ..glad you picked up on what I was trying to do ..thought of calling it NAFFI break .lol I do like Diaccs stuff it’s a breath of fresh air for early British stuf all power to him …
As I say great work; inspirational too - sort of understated but still displaying lethality.
I am now resolved to do a simple Land Rover and trailer - a typical ride for me - the Clerks’ Wagon, whether at Bde or Div or wherever come to that(!) No lethality of course, just a typical wagon and trailer, depicted as deploying on exercise; cam net and poles, and that’s about it. Perhaps a green flag replicating the odd occasion when I was unlucky enough to have to lead a packet and concentrate on my map reading.
Not too sure when mind, I’ve enough going on at the moment what, with a Sov T-72/ERA, a pair of Sheridans and a busy Dutch project, but you’ve sown the seed Terry!
Anyway, what’s next?
Excellent job Terry, and the base too!
Excellent work.
