Latvian Scimitar

Since the Scimitar is the closest thing Latvia has to a MBT id love to add one to my NATO collection does any one happen to know what markings the carry and as for a a kit of it the only one i know of is the AFV Club and can it be built out of the box for a Latvian Scimitar?

can the Latvian Scimitar be built from the AFV kit?

I don’t think so the AFV Club is old and to upgrade the kit would be costly
I will check later today as it’s late here in the UK

To do a Scimitar used by Latvia you would have to invest in the Scorpion Miniature Models upgrades! OOB the AFV kit is a very early version.

This is something I have been thinking of building for the past couple of years.

No - as Ivan and few others mention, the AFV kit is an early version and to get it up to Latvian spec it would need a massive amount of upgrades

No mate that is a Mk2,basicly a scimitar turret plonked on a Spartan hull. Totally different vehicle👍
Had a Quick Look on SMM and you would need to spend at least £35 for the upgrades plus getting the AFV kit of corse.

There’s no real Mk for the Latvian version. It was just the most modern one fielded. Throughout it’s life (before they made the truly hideous MK2) Scimitar was just basically upgraded with various things like Engine, Jag to Cummins, sights like BGTI and ESPIRE and the LEP program…but just always referred to as just a Scimitar…
The AFV version is just an early configuration before all of the above …

so basicly a new turret and hull fittings are needed?

Yeap pretty much, and a PE set …
Also possibly AM tracks as the kit ones are hard to get set with the correct sag… Not impossible, but tricky. Also, not sure what Comms the Latvian ones use so may need different ABAs etc.

Looking at the pic below you could probably get away with using Bowman ABA’s, just maybe use Albion Alloy brass tubes to build up the antenna.

The LEP upgrade as shown plus all the pictures shared have the ESPIRE sight. The turret replacement is a nice to have but not essential like the LEP upgrade parts.

As Paul said, the replacement turret is not really essential for this. If I was going to do it- I would look at getting the following upgrades.

The HKCW LEP conversion set.
The ESPIRE sights
The Bowman radio Box set (nice spot Max @Maximus8425 )
AM tracks
Rear hull bin
And the PE set.

keep us all posted.
