Look for structural photos of the upper part of the XM1299 turret

Looking for detailed photos of the XM1299 turret superstructure, can a friend provide them?

Google search has a few “exteriors”. When you say superstructure, do you mean form/shape, attachments, etc.

These are from dot-ru website, rather interestingly.

“ What do the new XM1299 self-propelled guns show?”

As I understand today, the XM1299 was cancelled in March of this year. A primary concern was excessive barrel erosion. 20 have been produced.

I think the OP is looking for detailed shots of the turret to make a kit.

哈哈 我比较好奇是否有他清晰的图片 (Haha, I’m more curious if there are any clear pictures of it.)

English translation will be helpful.

英语翻译将会有帮助。

thank you sir,my English not good.

I read a Defense article where the US Army is thinking of reviving the XM1299 program because most of the testing worked except for the barrel. It would make sense…the Army got this far with it.

The other best contender would be the Crusader SPH.

@Trisaw
Have you a date for that article?

I think the Crusader is DOA. Requires an engine relocation (down? Forward?) and hull redesign off the existing Abrams chassis, or from the M88A2 Hercules. Sprockets are in the rear for both.

The Crusader required nearly 350 additional LV100-5 (old AGT1500 gas turbine)

Hercules has enough roadwheels, but not a convenient design for making a rear-mounted SPH.

It’d be interesting to see the speculation in your article. Thanks!

Wild idea.
Possibly feasible in 1/35 styrene.
Turn the M88 back to front (drive it backwards). Will probably require modifications to the drive train to get the gearbox working in the new forwards direction.
Most of the hardware (all??) for a stabilising spade is already there.
Exhaust needs to be rerouted.

Ted, do you know where this Crusader is?

I photographed and measured the one at Ft. Sill and also photographed one at Yuma.

Looks to be at Sill, 13 hours from home…

Do you need photos?

Here is the article…

If the US Army fixes the technical flaws, and the new barrel life is satisfactory, perhaps the XM1299 will become a reality and in service and modelers will be building a kit of it in the future. The US Army really needs a SPH that can reach out and outrange.

No, I just like the looks of this vehicle. If I remember correctly, parts of the vehicle come from a MN company.

Well, there is the kit, which to date has the only correct M1A2 wheels in injected plastic on the market.

Crusader 2001, SPH howitzer that went belly up. Picture embedded above.

Or. WW2 British tank: unlikely relevant here.
