Looking to build the M1 TTB

years ago i bulit the M1TTB and im looking to build to build it again the last time i built it i used the tamiya M1A1 and the original Tamiya M1 not sure if i want to go with the tamiya kits this time
but from what i seen of pics of the actual tank they have the original wheels so that leaves out meng and RFM any suggestions?

Panda? A pain to build, but better detailed than Tamiya

Pics I’ve taken on Fort Moore. I’ll be there next weekend for a volunteer day. PM if you have specific pics you need. Meanwhile:

That’s the 130mm gun IIRC. Not Thumper.

This is Thumper, w/ the 140mm. Notice the hatch differences.

was there 2 different configurations?

@tanknick22  Yes, The CATTB was part of a family of vehicles. It had the 130mm gun, I forget the designator.

Thumper carried the XM291 140mm gun, hatches that were not square, and no smoke dischargers on the cheeks of the turret. The XM291 has a very thin bore evacuator when compared to that of the 130mm and the 120mm.

XM291- also called the ATAC

This is the Abrams SRV. It basically experimented with the relocation of the crew into the hull.

The entire project was called the Block III

I remember seeing the Abrams SRV at Ft Knox when i was in basic back in 83, Isn’t the XM291 the lightweight 120mm that would have been mounted on the Future Combat System that would have replaced the Abrams and also mounted on the Abrams X?

The AbramsX uses the XM360 120mm gun.

got them confused

One thing about Thumper is i dont need to modify the lower hull as the the other configuration had a diesel
