Does anyone know if the blade has a curve, from left to right. I just got the SOL kit and there is a very slight curve. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but it is very slightly noticeable. The blade in the kit is a big hunk resin.
You mean across the face? I believe it was a straight line across, and was perpendicular to the main axis of the tank. Sounds like you have a warp to deal with…
Correct. The blades on the M1 and M1A1 dozers were completely straight. The problem with ‘big hunks’ of resin is inconsistent cooling, leading to warping. A warm bath beckons…
Either use hot water or a hair dryer to warm up the part — make sure to heat it from both sides and enough that it penetrates into the material rather than only heating up the outside. Then press it flat against a surface (a stone kitchen countertop is very good for this, if you have one) and leave it to cool; you may want to apply some cold water while you keep it pressed flat.
This will get you from this:

(That’s part of the ancient Verlinden conversion kit to turn an M107 or M110 SP gun into an M578 ARV, BTW.)
