I am starting work on the Magic Factory M10 Booker. After looking at the plastic multi-part tracks in the kit, I considered using either the ET Model or the upcoming RFM T161 Bradley tracks to make life a little easier (less clean-up as both are 3D-printed).
However, although I’ve seen here and from some other sources that the Booker also uses the same T161 tracks as the Bradley, on closer inspection of some reference pictures, there are some differences – most noticeably in the details on the end connectors and the shape of the trackpads.
To me, it seems like the kit-provided tracks are more accurate than the current aftermarket offerings. Does anyone have any more information on the tracks the M10 Booker uses? Is there a different model number?
First, actual specs for the M10 Booker that will be fully fielded are not yet determined. Just so we are all clear, there will most likely be changes based on the first vehicles fielded at Camp Liberty.
Second, the tracks on the current M10 Booker are likely to be matched to the M2 Bradley or vis-versa. The T-161 tracks are fully in spec for the stated M10 Booker requirements. If the M10 increases in weight they may need to make vehicle specific tracks which would go against the goal of common parts between similar weight class vehicles.
Right now, if I was a betting man, I would guess that the field deployed M10 Booker will have the same T-161 tracks as the M2/3 Bradley series. I believe the track pads are the OLDER initial T161 track pads and the little bolt covers on each track are to keep the tracks from damaging the pavement in cantonment.
I am open to any other more informed information. I am also working on adapting my T161 tracks to fit the M10 Booker kit.
Did I ever send you the precise measurements? Magic Factory got them wrong - they are too large. Incredibly, Panda did a better job on them than Magic Factory.
Yes you did. My tracks are less than 1% off in any dimension, which is pretty damned amazing considering I had no real measurements to start from, only the Tamiya kit!
