M1078 LMTV questions

Looking for information on the M1078 LMTV shown below with the MCTAGS turret on it. Is this a USMC LMTV? Did the US Army also use the MCTAGS turrets? I don’t see the small star on the front of the cab usually associated with US Army vehicles. Does anyone know what the device is on the top side of the cab right in front of the exhaust?

I found the above photo from this link. There is no information on the specific LMTV with the MCTAGS turret though. The original photo is about 1/2 way down the post.

In this photo, you can see the small star on the front of the cab indicating that it is US Army.

probably an army unit that got their hands on a turret in theater a lot of grab what you can did happen also that looks like a speaker of some kind added to the truck most likely by the unit.

Thanks for the reply! Seeing the US Army “acquired” the MCTAGS turret for that LMTV, would this M1114 shown below be US Army or USMC? It has the MCTAGS turret, Warlock anti IED system and the Ibis-Tek bumper. This one has the Marine Armor Kit (MAK) which was a USMC specific kit. Would this HMMWV be US Army or USMC? Did the US Army also “acquire” the MAK as well for their M1114’s? One thing that is noticeable are the ballistic shoulder pads. Did the USMC use the Ibis-Tek bumper and those ballistic shoulder pads?

The thimble-shaped antenna is usually seen on USMC vehicles…

Thanks! The thimble shaped antenna is the Warlock anti IED system.

I will add the Ibis-Tek bumper to my USMC M1114. I have a Legend set already partially assembled.

Too me that is a marine truck I’ve never seen that uniform worn by the marines, but I was not a marine and just because I never saw it does not mean it didn’t happen.

It looks to be a NOMAX type uniform.

With nomex gloves. Generally worn by pipe hitters during explosives breaches. Nothing more terrifying to the enemy than seeing you come toward him while you’re in flames, but ya gotta draw the line somewhere.

Great research I knew where the SEABEAS where just never interacted with them and that explains the equipment look very marineish

Thanks for the info. Could it be that he was attached to a USMC unit or the SEABEES had their own HMMWV or was it borrowed from a USMC unit?

Thanks! According to the link, he was attached to a USMC unit. So, it is safe to say that is a USMC M1114.

I have the Italeri 1/35 road block kit and was wondering which specific area were they set up at? Was this typical in Iraq and or Afghanistan?

While the Italeri road block kit shows a HMMWV in the background, could I use the M1117 with the M1078 together? I have the Trumpeter M1117 and M1078 kits and was wondering if they would operate together at one of those road block/checkpoints?

I found these photos of an M1117 and M1078 together on Prime Portal but not at a road block/checkpoint like the Italeri kit represents. Would it be possible to place them together on a dio with the Italeri kit?

I also plan on adding the RHINO and DUKE antennas to my M1117 using the Voyager set. I will also be adding the pintle mounted MG as well as seen in the photos below. I would prefer to do mine in the NATO camo scheme though.

I also found an M1078 with the RHINO and DUKE antenna. I want do the cab in sand but the bed in the NATO camo scheme like the Trumpeter paint guide shows.

Would it be possible to have an M1117 in the NATO camo with the RHINO and DUKE antennas and the M1078 also with the RHINO and DUKE antennas at the same road block/checkpoint?

I am looking for the Tank Workshop 1/35 canvas cover either open or closed versions for the Trumpeter M1078 kit. If anyone is willing to part with one at a reasonable price, please contact me, I am located in the USA.
