beautiful build. you did the paladin proud.
Great build and finish with loads of lovely extra detailing … Super work for your first post Julius, and welcome to the site.
Great job. I like your painting work on the whole thing.
Great looking build. Love the stowage.
Came out looking great. Good job on it.
First off - welcome to the forum.
As for the build, I like everything about it. Except for the rust on the aluminum turret and hull. It’s a common error that a lot of folks have done, but it doesn’t take away from your skillset. Very nice model otherwise.
Julius welcome to Armorama! What a great way to jump in. This is a beautiful model. Great build, excellent finishing, and fantastic stowage and detailing. Very nice.
Welcome aboard Julius. Wish my models had looked that good in year 2. Keep up the good work.
Excellent job Julius, love the finish on that beast.
Can you tell us what paints you used and how you went about weathering it?
Welcome aboard.
May I ask what kit you used?
I’ve used the AFV Club Kit. It’s the only one I could find. Also I think it’s the best
Some voyager photo etch straps and meng and tamiya accessories where used
Yes, AFV Club’s M109 series are the best. The M109A6 Paladin is very nice…yours and AFV Club’s kit.
I primed with black hobby surfacer 1500 and highlighted panels white
I dont recommend that though. The contrast is too stark.
Next time i would use grey base. and use brown to darken recesses and shadows
H313 was the base colour. But felt it was too bland.
I mixed a mixture of tamiya buff, desert yellow and deck tan.
Chipping with nato green and dark rust colour came next.
I applied filter over the anti slip panels
After that panel lining with some premixed enamel for OIF vehicles.
Oil wash came next and was a first for me. I honestly prefer it too all the convenience products. It just works better. I used AK Abt 502 oils
Starship filth,
Buff,
Faded white,
Dust,
Ochre( i really liked this one),
Raw umber,
Burnt umber
Out of those i liked starship filth the least because it felt too dark, might mix it with the white in future before dotting it on.
Also used rust pigments for the exhaust and tracks, enamel washes aswell.
Oil enamel streaks aswell for exhaust in the intake grills.
Some different sand pigments where also used.
Ask if you have further question, im no expert though… i just do a lot of research myself
Excellent job again; and I like your finishing method. Much of it is trial and error until you find out which method and products work best for you. I use some of the same products like the AB 502 oils as well and they’re excellent.
I like the finishes. Great build.
Cheers,
Ralph
