M113 acav usareur

I am building the Tamiya M113 ACAV with the Eduard PE set. I plan on doing the USAREUR version, but wanted to ask those that may have served on them about the interior layout and the TC weapons set up. Did most units use the TC stand or remove it (seems like it was not used in Vietnam)? In a few of the photos I have come across, it looks like in USAREUR they used a different gun shield set up for the TC M2 and with out the big cupola as used in Vietnam?
Thanks in advance
Bret

Based on what I have seen, it would have had the TCs seat and stand as in the Tamiya kit. Also, it would most likely not have the TCs surround shield nor the gun shield, nor rear M60 shields. Those were usually only installed during combat (Vietnam, Iraq, Ukraine).

Like these.

However, this one has all of the ACAV gunshields. It looks like '80s based on the camo jacket and Kevlar on the soldier standing on the front slope.

I saw that last picture and a few others that show that configuration. I can use up more of the kit stuff that way.

24th ID pass in review, with the guidon jammed into the mud guard/skirt. Nice

Anyone have ideas on how to replicate the MILES scar? It was always that spray on glue to put the Velcro sheet on then the actual sensor strip. It always left residue.

Do you want the velcro or just the glue?

I am using that picture above as a guide so it looks like the glue mainly. I was going to go with some Mr. Surfacer and stipple it just a bit. No idea how to do the Velcro.

For the velcro, cut making tape into thin strips and paint it the OD/Medium Green color, then glue it to the sides of the model. For just the glue, run a brush with glosscoat in a line along the sides. In 1/35, you can’t really see the texture.
