M113 belly/sponson armor Vietnam

Did US M113s also.use the belly and sponson armor in Vietnam or was that just the Australian M113s? If they did, was it the same as the Aussies? Thanks.

No sponson armor, and obviously the external fuel tanks were not used there…

Shows fitted on the AHHQ 1/16th kit box art. You can see it on period pics too as a lip on the lower edge of the front panel.

Here are a couple of shots of M113s with belly armor, with and without the floatation cells. It looks an M106 or M125 with belly armor in the second photo.

1/4 Cav had belly armor for M113’s and 11ACR had kits for 551’s. Most of the previous are 5th Mech pictures.
