M113: Jack Of All Trades

That concerns me as well, especially the ammunition feed. I already purchased correct paint and have lots of pictures of the prototype at Fort Ord so perhaps it will turn out okay.

I would also like to build a M901 and a gun tank M113 (there are a few possibilities) but do not have the pieces to try either of those.

I’m very unlikely to join a campaign as I can’t seem to get my regular projects done but this is one I’d like to do one day, a VISMOD BMP-1

check out how they even added the VDV emblem on the side although VDV never used the BMP-1 as far as I know.
Oh wow ! Apparently the little cake emoji next to my name means today is the anniversary of when I joined the new DG in 2020.

Oh, I got one too!
happy anniversary!

I got the Italeri M901… and it does not look promising. tracks are unusable and the turret apparently is too small.

I have the Verlinden one and the Legend one…the Verlinden is not at all accurate, on the other hand the Legend one is really good. I served a few weeks in Bosnia as reinforcement with the anti-armor platoon. I had an emergency course on the M113 TUA. When I returned, I did the full course. I have a weakness for this version. Here is the one I assembled in 2020, a Legend conversion kit.

Wow. Nicely done. I guess I’ll have to do an all green SFOR version.

Great timing! Just a quick question…how will we be able to submit our progression? Here?

Back in January of this year, I asked some question about the M163 and M901. Matt (SSGToms) commanded an M901 and offered advice on building an accurate one. The discussion covers the M901 turret size issue.

In my opinion, if the Tamiya model will be a fun project for you, build it as you see fit. :slightly_smiling_face:

Who knows (generally) how long the early wheels were used?
The wheels on Andy’s HHQ 1/16 kit appear to be the early type.

I’ve been chomping at the bit to build a Lebanese Army M113-mounted ZU-23-2 AA gun.

when this campaign goes live, this thread will be moved from the Staging Area to the Active Campaigns section.
This usually happens a few days before or after the start date.

Yes yes Danny. The usual process for a campaign will be followed here.
Submit a start photo here of your unstarted kit with any aftermarket you may have for it.
Submit build photos along the way here as you progress in your build and paint. You can post as many times as you want. Keep us updated on your progress.
When you have completed your model, post finished photos here of your work. You will receive a badge at the end of the campaign.

am i the only one here who has several M113’s in their stash but not quite the right one for the campaign?

Nope. Same here. A good number of versions have already “been taken” or are “in progress”.

No. More like several M113s in the stash and not enough time to indulge in all of the other hobbies all whilst taking care of the family responsibilites.

How many is “several”? I have 9 currently. Some have been started for projects. I do have some that have not had any work done so I do have something for this campaign. Big fan of the M113!
