Thanks! It was tedious but fun. I have a few more to do in the NATO camo and will be interesting to see how closely I can match the pattern on them all.

One thing I noted even though the NATO camo pattern is standard, these two M113A2’s in Panama which have the NATO camo shows two distinctively different camo patterns though. Notice the second M113 has a different pattern than the one in the front. You can see the different patterns on the left side under the smoke dischargers. The one in the front matches other M113’s in the NATO camo and also matches the Tamiya paint guide.

You have to be careful about “NATO” camo patterns in the 1980s. The CARC paint was applied to new vehicles at the factory, or to existing vehicles at depot level. Regular troops were not allowed to apply the paint because of toxicity and disposal issues; so many existing vehicles were repainted in a “fake” NATO pattern by painting over the MERDC sand color with brown or black. The painting was done by the vehicle crew, so there was a lot of variation from one to the other.

Thanks for the info. Greatly appreciated! I did notice some in the NATO pattern from Operation Just Cause do match up with the Tamiya paint guide so I will just follow that as I did with the one from OIF I just painted.
