M1152 SECM Academy/Liam 1/35

As a youngun I always understood the silencer was the fat bit on the end of the exhaust pipe. I later heard it called a muffler by US servicemen stationed at Upper Heyford.

The Liam conversion is a second generation SECM (Shop Equipment Contact Maintenance), with a lower rear body profile.

The first generation SECM had a higher rear body as per the two I converted some years ago (the smaller 1/48 scale SECM was a later project) - both are based on Tamiya kits.

Maki - at the risk of derailing this thread, what are your thoughts on the quality/accuracy of the recent ICM Humvee kits? You’re making me want to build another Humvee…

ICM – the positives
Rear bumper, accurate engine cowling, imitation engine block, a nice cargo version (much better than Academy or Italeri). A good base for several variants, e.g. guntruck.
Weaker points
The bonnet parts are oddly designed – they have to be glued in a very visible spot. Filler is essential. The seats aren’t very accurate. The biggest downside is that only two models are available, the first of which is a bare-bones kit. Perhaps we’ll see an M1025/1043 version eventually. The ICM model has slightly different dimensions, so conversions for Tamiya kits unfortunately don’t fit.

PS_ Great “old” SECM :sign_of_the_horns:

I’m nearing the finish line. Still a bit of work to do. I’ve replaced the bonnet clips, as the ones from Academy are rubbish.

Looks very nice, @Makinen …the time and effort of incorporating the conversion shows.
