My latest work, which I haven’t had time to post (hockey
and work
are slowing my progress), is an M1165 GMV for a customer.
I am converting the Academy M1151 Armored HMMWV to make the M1165.
I am following the excellent article on building one by our own Ettore @galactica Galasso.
M1165 US Army GMV with Priamide Models conversion parts
I am also using the 3D printed parts that he designed for his build of it, which are available through the 3Dp Train site. 3Dp Train - 1/35 Scale
The conversion includes new side armor and cutting off the rear of the M1151 roof and adding a rear wall to make the M1165. The doors require some reshaping and new window carriers. The rear is boxed in with armored walls as well. The spare tire carrier is added on the right side, along with an additional fuel filler cap for a second fuel tank. A new front bumper, tool rack, antennas, etc., etc., etc… All the needed parts are listed above in Ettore’s article.
Here it is with most of Etorre’s parts installed. His parts are awesome and fit perfectly. They installed without issues as well. I printed the SAG II turret on my 3D printer. I am very happy with how it came out too. Unfortunately, these are the only unpainted/in-progress shots I took.
Here it is painted up. I still need to install the weapons and tools, a couple fuel and water cans on the back, and paint all the lights and mirrors. I also used the Def Model M1151 sagged wheels on it.
The interior is fully detailed but mostly can’t be seen as the buyer wanted it all closed up. You can see the radios through the top hatch though.
I’ll take some better pics when it is done.

That is not unfortunate, it shows off the 3D-parts and provide a lot more information without the paint obscuring the colour differences

I agree with you. It is unfortunate that I didn’t take more pics to show more of his excellent parts.

OOOOO! Fantastic topic. Congrats on your choice and decision. I also have this vehicle in my collection, but I still envy your fun and construction.

Thanks Terminator. I like how it came out.
The GMV is done. I added a Legend .50 cal and M240Bs on swing mounts with all the optics and flashlights included. They came out nicely and finish it off well, as far as I am concerned. The customer was thrilled too.
Here it is overall.
Some detail shots.
I found this gear bag w/an M4 sticking out on Cults 3D and printed it up. I like how it looks. All the ammo cans and the fuel and water jugs on the back were 3D printed by me as well.
Overall this was a very fun build and I loved printing and adding the 3D printed parts.

Great finish, I like the color shade.
About hockey, is it ice hockey ? It seems an impressive sport, in a way 2 sports in 1.
Very cool !

Thanks gents.
Actually, all the ammo cans, SAG II turret, .50 cal and mount, and gear were 3D printed by me. More great items from my home 3D printer. You really need to get one.

That might be a huge consideration for me…a 3D printer.
Do 3D printers have WiFi or Bluetooth, or are they all cable connected to a computer to send 3D print files from?

I have an Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra. It has WiFi, or it can be connected by wire, or transferred via a thumb-drive. It isn’t that big either, about 15"x15"x24" tall.
