M151 1/4-ton Query

Gino,

Re: A2, all of the M151 series trucks had drum brakes, not disc. I have owned an A1, and currently have my restored A2, in addition to driving/servicing the 151s from 1973 to 1980 on active duty. Also, the NATO slave cable receptacle was intended for trucks equipped with the hot water or gas-fired personnel heater kits. Not all 151s had the receptacle, but it sure was handy when you needed a jump.

Thanks I was suspisious of where I saw the A2 had disks. Then I saw it in another place as well. Guess not. I’ll correct it above.

Who votes for new kits of M151 family to replace the Tamiya and Academy ones? With all the update sets around, its time for new kits.

Was in a Reserve MP unit in the 70 s and we transitioned from A1s to A 2s .The brand new A2s did not have the slave cylinder.

Here’s my very early attempt at scratch building. I built this back in the80s . The armor was made from an old yard sale sign I found in the trash, the antenna was my first try at stretched sprue and the door handles were small copper wire. The base was sandpaper, pain ted to look like pavement. Lost a tow shackle some

where along the way. Obviously not a correct version, but I was just getting back into modelling, so it is what it is. Wayne

Looks good. I did similar quite a few years ago. I think the armor schematics came out of a Verlinden book, the old “Lock On” series. I also backdated it to an M151A1. I can’t seem to find any pics of it though.

Gino,

I’m responding as M151 but I can’t open my regular Armorama page, user name m75. I have posted request for assistance on User Support but am waiting for response. Can you recommend a fellow member that can help me get back to my m75 account?

I think Jim has solved it and I think he is the only one who could.
I don’t have the needed access and I doubt that Darren has it either.
