M1A2 SEP V2 with Trophy?

Hi All,

This topic/question has probably been discussed many times previously, but I’ve not found the answer I’m hoping for. I’ve been away, mentally, from AFVs in favor of aircraft for a while now, and I’m feeling like I want to get back to armor again, at least for a bit. I just got the Rye Field (RFM) M1A2 SEP V3 kit, and I know that the M1A2 SEP V3 tank is set up for easy addition of the Trophy system, but this configuration has yet to be fielded, as far as I know. I have seen a very few photos of the M1A2 SEP V2 tank with the Trophy system mounted, and at least the TUSK ‘base plates’ on the skirts. I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what would be needed to add to the RFM M1A2 SEP V2 kit in order to install the Trophy system. I’m pretty sure the modified bustle racks would need to be installed (as included the RFM M1A2 SEP V3 kit), and of course, the Trophy system packages themselves, one on each side of the turret. Of course, the connections (power and instrumentation cables) and their protection conduits, would also be needed, as well as any other external antennas (if any). Does anyone know exactly what cables and conduit would be need to be added to the RFM M1A2 SEP V2 turret? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

That is because it was not intended to be mounted on the M1A2 SEP v2. It was only tested on a few modified M1A2 SEP v2s to test the system and concept.

The M1A2 SEP v3 has been fielded at many units. A couple examples.

You probably won’t find many (if any) pics of Trophy mounted since it is only used in active combat. The crew may train on it in simulators and a couple times a year, but that is about it.

Gino mentions simulators - these are standalone pods that can be lifted by two people, unlike the real things.

Here are the simulator units.

The easiest way to tell is the presence of the cable runs & ancillary boxes on the turret roof.

Excellent point…I wasn’t aware of that! Thank you!

Understood, Gino. I was meaning the SEP V3 with Trophy mounted.

I appreciate all the help everyone has provided to me here. Thanks a bunch!
