I’m movin’ on with the figures. I sourced a decal sheet from Korea with 1:35 Mitchell pattern and put them on the helmets - here’s how it turned out:
Where the decal wrinkled a little it looks a lot like fabric on steel. Decal also has some dithering (raster) that can be seen in extreme close up - then again after wash and pigments the contrast isn’t too great (just like its supposed to be). So I like how it turned out, I’m curious about your opinion.
And more work on the figures:
For this I mainly used Games Workshop contrast paints and I like how they work.
So I’m moving on to finally finish this and start something else.
I’ve built the radio at last! To dress it up I made some smoke grenades wirh decals from Peddinghouse (already had them since my dozer project). Here’s how it turned out:
I hope you like the result - thanks for looking and have a nice day!
It’s been a long time - again - but finally I’ve got an update here.
I have fabricated and installed spare road wheels like in the photos of the real thing:
At last I have also glued the tracks/wheels subassembies that were removable until now. I have finished weathering these areas to match the photos:
On the other side there is also the exhaust - other than the kit instructions have it there seems to be a full height exhaust stack in the photos - where it is not obstructed by the guys hanging around:
Excellent work, my friend. Keep the updates coming. Did you choose to omit the pivot levers? I saw them in the build photo, but not the finished (?) cab pics, or did I just miss them?
I stand corrected, Pawel. I did not mean it as a derision. I just didn’t see them in the advanced pics. I’m looking forward to seeing it with the guns mounted up. Your quad build is excellent, as is your figure work.
No problem, it came through just right. Sometimes I obsess about a detail that turns out almost invisible on a finished model - and this is one of such features - those levers. But its still interesting to know they are there and what they do.
As a last thing I made a few last “things” I felt were needed - I have placed some .50 cases and links from Master and I have also fabricated a shovel and a broom. I have placed them on the model together with the crew:
And thus my project is finally done!
Here are some more photos of the done deal:
I like to have a detailed underside on my models - in this case this is how it looks like:
Turned out really nice, those extra details really set it off. Got to cleanup all that brass. Reminds me of scene in Waterworld where they are using a scoop shovel to clear out all the brass on the quad 50 barge. Great job. Wayne
