Macross Plus, 1/72 YF-19 Demonstrator

I had so much fun building the Super Ostrich, I jinked!

My next build is the YF-19 Demonstrator!

Just looking at the box art, I notice what looked like B2 Spirits in the background.:exploding_head:

I wonder if that was intentional?

Let fun begin! There appears to be “foil” decals, which will be interesting.

Those bombers are part of the lore. See more here: Wingthrop SB-10/10 Starwing Heavy Bomber

That looks like a Macross aircraft?

That is dead cool!!:star_struck:

Thanks for sharing, bub!:+1:

You are spot on correct!

I have a serious softspot for all things Macross, especially the mecha.

Thanks for your interest.

Macross Plus, from the label on the right side of the box…

I have made headway with the sub-assembles.

…and dry fitting.

Next is the undercoat using mr.color surfacer and trying to figure out my painting sequence.

This is an interesting inverted wing design, similar to NASA’s Grumman X-29 and the Soviet SU-47 Berkut.

Notice the forward canards on all the designs.

An interesting real world comparison.

Of course the canards are forward; if they were aft, they’d be elevators…

Quite so, a relevant observation.

Anyway, onwards and upwards!

Lining up for paint.

Mr color surfacer is applied and the kit is looking good.

The top half of the fuselage looks strikingly similar to the SU-47.

Wierd how “art” can imitate real life…

Did a bit more base coat and trial dry fit.

Shades of Su-47

In black this design appears to be based on the Su-47, but that will change when the final paint goes on.
