Maybe a Boy Named Sue…
A Magach 7 is a fully upgraded Magach 6M (still M60 based with new FCS, engine pack, numerous internal improvements and blazer) reworked with more advanced passive armour array, steel M48 style wheels and Merkava tracks.
What I want know is he “shot a man in Reno” what is he doing in Folsom. Reno is Nevada. We do not use California State prisons for our murderers. Even if we get overcrowded we just air out the gas chamber and cull the herd.
That makes sense. I know I had read somewhere that the Magach 7 was based on an M60.
New toys arrived today.

The bags are perfect for IDF subjects up through the YKW, at least. I expect I’ll be buying more, and I have no affiliation with Jeff whatsoever. The bags have zero imperfections.
Opinions needed please. I found a couple of old pics of a Magach 6, captioned as YKW period, with Urdan cupolas. So, waddya think: M19 or Urdan?

Urdan, to make it uniquely IDF.
Urdan looks better too. Stowage is coming along nicely, almost ready for the next project.

The musette bags are from Steel Pot Studios, absolutely lovely, and several different examples in each package. They’re base-coated only now.
Looks great Russel
I changed up the turret markings to better show how so many tanks were hastily re-numbered during the mid-to-later part of the YKW as units were thrown together from whatever was available. I went for the hand-painted look.
Also, I really, really like the musette bags with a little paint on them. The details really pop and have been a pleasure to paint. Kudos to Steel Pot Studios, with whom I have absolutely no affiliation.

I have some Value Gear bits that may work on the front fenders, but I may leave them clean. Plus, now that I know why so many Magachs had ammo boxes or sandbags strapped to the outside of the filter housings I may do that.
Can you tell us why that was?
Absolutely! According to Dr. Rob, it was fairly common to see on Magachs during the War of Attrition to protect the then-unarmored air filter housings from shrapnel and other damage during the frequent artillery duels that occurred between Egyptian and IDF forces along the Suez Canal, just prior to the YKW.
In the Magach “after the 6 Day War” book are pics of both sandbags and sand-filled ammo crates used.
I had wondered about that for quite a while, and now I know. Esci and Academy both supply a couple of 105mm crates in their kits and I always wondered why they were shown on the box art, just laying on the fenders.
Thanks! That opens up nice possibilities for adding sandbags ![]()

I used the boxes that Academy supplies in their Magach kits. Other stowage coming along too.

Done. I added some more soot around the exhaust louvers after I looked at these pics and decided the loose tracks on the right side were going to have to stay. One less link is too tight and I don’t feel like trying to move the idler. I’d surely break more than I “fixed”. I’ll live with it…
I stuck a TC half-fig in, seems like this tank needed a TC looking for Egyptian Sagger teams…

I’m real happy with the stowage, both the Steel Pot and Value Gear stuff.

Left side tracks are just fine. Gotta love staggered road wheel stations.

And thanks Johnny, the AK paint pens are VERY useful. The fat chevrons are done with the white one and the black outline with a drafting pen.

Love the bags. They were a pleasure to paint.
Booty pic to wind it up.

It looks perfect. Great job on it.
Fantastic job!!
Superb model Russel. It just screams IDF and your ingenuity of using all the different parts is outstanding. I applaud your forethought and building skills. The paint, markings, and weathering are spectacular, too!
Thanks all! On to a couple of campaign builds now, and maybe something a bit different too.
