Magic Factory M7A3 Bradley FIST

Hello again, I haven’t been active for a while. In the meantime I was working on the M7A3 BFIST kit Magic Factory.

I hope you like it!

It came out really nicely. The finish looks great. Are those the Magic Factory crew figures for it as well? They also look great.

It has a few small corrections/issues though. The rear lights look amber, but should be red. Take a look at your right track around the rear idler. It looks like it is coming apart. You missed a couple pieces too. Around the driver’s hatch should be two small pipes sticking up, one each side about 1/4 inch (parts O32, N10). These are anti-foul poles for the TOW guide wires. Also, on the turret where the BC hatch is should have a guard above the periscopes. If you leave off the armored glass, you should still install the guard parts (J1, J5).

Indeed a very nice build - the vehicle, the stowage, the figures. Everything ties together very nicely.

The crushed box is a nice touch.

It is time to dispel this oft repeated myth. That’s not what they are, although you should still install them.

You haven’t dispelled anything yet. How about telling us what they are for then?

My only guess would be to protect the driver from wires strung across the road when driving with his hatch open.

Ah, tactful as ever. I didn’t think it was worth the time spelling it out.

Good guess though. They follow the same principal as several other guards such as those found on the Stryker, ACE, et al…

The reasons for it not being for TOW wires I’d have thought were obvious -

  1. The wires disconnect from the launcher after firing.
  2. They are extremely thin and break very easily
  3. The launcher is much higher in firing mode than in its stowed configuration - even if they did present some sort of danger, they’re way too high
  4. Being “anti-fouling” bars for the TOW guidance wires presupposes that the turret is point straight forward when firing every time.
  5. They are easily removed. And sometimes considered a nuisance by maintenance personnel. If they were for wires, it would be a simple matter of removing them from a BFIST, which of course does not fire a TOW missile at all.

TankerKen tried to “dispel” it once as well, but you shut him down. My guess it wasn’t worth his time.

So, dispelled enough? :slightly_smiling_face:

Very nice :+1: I have just got the M2A4 so I hope I can do that justice as you have done!

It is an awesome finish you have given it- especially with the various tan bits contrasting against the green. Your weathering is excellent too. How did you find the Magic Factory kit?

Thank you for your comment! The kit is really well designed, lots of details. I can recommend it to anyone looking for something different. You also get parts for the TOW launcher, so you can build a regular M2A3 if you wish.

Were you ever able to change those amber lights? If not, there’s an easy fix:
