Man with chameleon and Panzer 3 (from Academy)

Hi there!

I am a very slow builder but I have managed to complete another money sink. This time is the Academy DAK Panzer 3, with Panzer art figure and Sandbags, 2 Def updates, various rresin stowage bits, and Friul Tracks.

Very nice!

I especially like the detail of the spare tracks attached with the S-hooks & jerry cans w/rack.

Nice tidy build. The figure and palm give it a nice scale perspective as well. Groundwork is done very well too.

Yeah, theres a lot of nice subtle detailing when you look around it.

Really love the ground work. Is that a lizard on the tanker’s arm. I can’t see it clearly and wondered what color it is. Also, how did you make the sandbags. They look great! Why are there no turret numbers? I don’t see divisional markings, DAK palms or panzer rhomboids. Is this from a reference photo? Do you or anyone know of any Pz III kits where the mantlet openings can be positioned as open. I have seen a lot of photos of DAK tanks that are staionary have every door and hatch that can be opened in the open position. Really a nice vignette.

Hey, I am T-34 junkie and this is pure speculation.
The decals are strictly what comes in the Academy kit and the markings can be see in https://forums.kitmaker.net/uploads/default/original/3X/6/e/6e82dcc8d1899bd9a32a67d0c24f05595c2b0d69.jpeg
There was no palm three or rhombus on the decal sheet, but there was a small there was a small stencil in the def models can rack, but did not use it …
The sandbags are resin (Panzer III (North Africa) Sand Armor, Panzer Art RE35-140), and so is the figure DAK tanker with Chameleon, Panzer Art FI35-069 (2019)

That is terrific! I gotta find a place to get Panzer Art stuff. I thought maybe you had molded the sandbags from putty or something. Now that I know to magnify, I can see the turret numbers. Did you make the petrol can rack from Styrene or brass? It is really nice and the weathering and camo are superb. The red-orange wire cutter handles are a really nice touch. Thanks for the info.

Well, I don’t want to brag or anything but the aftermarket stuff just kept on piling up   So the rack with cans is this Pz.III D.A.K Dummy Jerry can set, Def.Model DM35108

The sand bags were adjusted someone to fill up the front deck as it was designed for the Dragon kit with the front space armor. Also, hidden between the bags (just to the left of the mg ball) is an lateral access hatch, without the hinges and in red primer, placed as additional armor.

What is the function of the bars/poles sticking up from the engine air intake on the left side of the tank? Excellent work!

At last! I diorama of a German tank officer doing something other than pointing “that way!” I love it!

Those are track pins and are usually depicted as placed inside of the spare wheels…
