Masking stinks

That has never happened to me… maybe you are putting too much paint on the edge?

I’m not sure about that as I try to maintain a consistent distance, trigger control through the rear dial on my detail H&S and low psi. I think it was the liquid mask.

I’m going to try some other media I obtained such as pinstripe vinyl tape and some putty’s I recently purchased. Thanks

I just realized I never responded to Sladenyv’s question. “De-tacking” just means reducing how sticky the masking tape is so that it doesn’t stick as aggressively and lift the base coat when removing the mask.

Before you apply the mask, just stick it briefly to your pants (I usually have blue jeans on). Then the mask will be sticky enough to stick to the model, but not remove any paint when you take it off.
