MBTs of the world

Does anybody know where to get a good comprehensive list of the current Main Battle Tank currently used around the world my next major task is going to be building the most current kit available, and I would like to make a list of kits needed.

Agreed! I’ve started collecting Main battle tanks. Think I am up to 8 or 9 at this stage

Not all still used like the M48 and AMX-30 but still neat!!

I understand.

Are you trying to do this for every country? Or just the main belligerents of the world?

Off the top of my head

Israel - Merkava IV unsure but the hobby boss is nice
Russian - T-90 (Meng?)
US - obviously some form of the Abrams RFM
Canada - Leopard 2 A4M and A6M (possibly the coolest Leopard 2) best kit hobby boss for the A4M, RFM for the A6M
UK - Challenger 2 best kit RFM
France - Leclerc Tiger model perhaps
Germany - Leopard 2 A7+ RFM
Most other European countries - Leopard 2 RFM

South Korea - K2 (academy maybe?)
Italy - artiete (trumpeter)

I would swap the heller Leclerc with tamiya. Haven’t built either but I too have heard bad things about heller

The amusing leopard 2 is also a variant that as far as I understand isn’t being produced yet but does have orders. My understanding the is the A7+ is the most advanced leopard 2 currently in use. If that matters

it does but I couldn’t find anything for the leo a7 but if you know of one, please let me know and the issue is the heller is a more advanced version you would think they would have some pride in their own countries tank.

RFM has a leopard 2A7V which I believe is the newest version in mass production and usage

When I stopped 20yrs ago, I basically had every “modern” MBT. However, when I decided to get back into building models, the latest that I had were way out of date.

But heres what I had;

U.S M1A1 Abrams
U.K Challenger (they weren’t being called Challenger 1 back then)
Germany Leopard 2A4
France Leclerc
Israel Merkava Mk1
Japan Type 90
Italy OTO Melara (An Italian tank originally built for export)
Russia T80U

Well now I need to catch up and update the modern MBT segment of my armor collection.
So far I’ve purchased the Israeli Merkava Mk 4…..and…… thats as far as I got.

Ive been buying tanks of other eras lately. When I stopped building models, there were extremely few interwar tanks available, and for me, I’m kinda partial to that period, because tank design was all over the place as there was no definitive tank doctrine.

Edro
