Hi Rodolfo, the fuselage mottling on your model looks as if it needs to be more densely applied. The photos you supplied at the head of your blog shows the mottling is applied pretty densely. Then again both sides of the aircraft do look different in the photos…
You are right, I also don’t be very satisfied about the fuselage camo …
I’ll retry to paint a different camo

Rodolfo, excellent model. Excited that you used the uncommon early red leading edge ID band. Is that in the painting guide or your research?

Very nice Rodolfo - I’m a big fan of Japanese aircraft and I don’t see as many builds of them as I would hope . A 109 in Japanese markings is that much more interesting !
HI Fred,
when I did some research about this plane I found this this article where, among other things, the author illustrates the use of the leading edge on Japanese aircraft.
Aviation of Japan
BTW the painting guide and obviously the decal also indicated red as the color of the leading edge ID.

A good well reasoned article by the author. Thanks for posting it Rodolfo. Superb build, enjoyed following your progress

Aviation of Japan is my go-to source for Imperial Japanese subjects. Nick Millman is considered one of the top I.J. researchers today. While he may cite other sites and researchers, much of the research is his own and he personally conducts intricate and comprehensive analysis of Japanese colors. And he is a really good guy.
