MFH's Ducati 750 Super Sport 1974

Michael,
Oh wow!! I’m just blown away at your build. Sure looks like pics of the real bike being built.

joel

Hi Richard, the screen is vacuformed which is pretty standard for MFH. I haven’t had any quality problems though the nervy part is cutting it out. Given the shape of this one it was quite exciting!

Michael

Thanks Joel! Maybbe it will inspire you to add building a bike kit to your list of kits to build

Vacuform is tricky for sure - here is a link to one of my aircraft builds . A little ways along you will see a post on a simple way to make male and female forms to aid in cutting out and tuning up vac form stuff using Durham’s Water putty . Works very well for me.

Michael,
Could very well have a two wheeler on my workbench some time this year, but I’m now looking to purchase a few Profil 24 Resin multi media kits of race cars that will never be injected molded that should be available sometime in March/April from Spot Models.

And Richard, thanks for the link to how you handle vacuum glass as those Profil 24 kits all have them.

joel

What a beautiful build! The quality of work here (and in all of the recent MFH build threads) is really inspiring, and the discussions along the way really entertaining and such great reference material. This is what the Forum should be all about guys!

Cheers, D

@AussieReg Great to see you back Damian, a bit of reading to catch-up on.
@Joel_W I have seen some of those Profil kits on Spot Models, interesting range of subjects. What do you think you’ll try first?
@RDT1953 Thanks Richard, some thing to think about in future. I cut the fairing out last year when I was waiting for the paint to arrive and completing various tasks in the meantime. I not sure you’ll need it for the aero screen on the Alfetta.

Wiring and plumbing complete. Never a job I like doing but on kits this size it’s obvious if you leave it off. Anyway all done. The green lines are fuel, an aspect of Ducati. I don’t know why. Red are ignition and black and are brakes, clutch and other electricals.

So, put on the bolt heads to cover the screws on the front and rear axles, add tank, put head light in, and put fairing together with rivets and stick on. Finished photos tomorrow I hope.

Michael,
Oh WOW!! the 750 just keeps on not only looking better and better, but more and more realistic. For sure you’ve got that magic touch. looking forward to your glamor shots in a few days.

As for what Profil 24 kit to get, I truly suck at making these kind of decisions. I’ve already fell in love with the vast majority of his kits. Each of the two era sections contains cars that I have a personal attachment to from reading, seeing, or even watch racing with some of my all time favorite drivers. Talk about being offered anything, but just one selection in a Candy Shop as a kid!!

I’m looking at two of his Porsche 911 RSR GTE cars, same for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT3/Es. I’m just not crazy about some of these bold paint schemes, being an old fashion type of guy. I wanted the Porsche 917 LM and the 908 Long Tail, but both are sold out, so who knows when or if they’ll ever be issued again. Thens there’s the Jag D with a full engine/trans but that means displaying with the long nose hood open which ruins the looks of the Jag. And there’s even a Alfetta or two in the mix.

My plans are to still build plastic, but rotate lets say two Profil 24 and two plastic kits per year. Budget being the main player in the game.

I work on real bikes all the time. If you were to show me this on a Ducati site I’d think it was real.

Wow ! Well done . I really enjoyed following this .
What’s next ?
Cheers- Richard

Absolutely stunning Michael, one to be proud of on the display shelf for sure! Like 18bravo said earlier, it would be easy to mistake this for the real deal on any other site, and that speaks volumes for the work you have done here.

Cheers, D

Michael,
Honestly, you just blew me away with your build. You took the MFH kit, and turned it into more then just a replica. You reached that level of: Is it real, or isn’t it? It’s just that good.

And that’s coming from a true race car guy whose never road a bike in his life.

joel

Won’t say anymore :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

@RDT1953 What’s next? I don’t know. There is certainly another space for some heavy metal from Japan

Something painted green I think.
