Mid 80’s M60A1

This is the Tamiya M60A1 with ERA kit with a misplaced lost H sprue, which means no ERA armor pieces. So building it sans armor as a vanilla M60A1, I’m trying to replicate a mid 80’s tank so that I can pose it as something used in Grenada for example. I’m 90% done, just missing some final assembly and photo etched parts, would appreciate if anyone can point out any accuracy issues with regard to the period correctness of the various details. Will be painting is winter merdc or desert merdc. Aftermarket parts are from Eduard and Legend.

Well, that’s timely, given the recent interest on several builds ongoing on the site. You’ve certainly gone to town on this one, not least with the interior. I’m not really in a position to help, but there’s plenty on here who will chip in I’m sure.

Thanks, Tamiya supplied a very basic and inaccurate driver’s compartment, since I planned to put a driver in there, I just wanted to add a few more things, so it’s not even close to accurate, but it’s better than an empty hole.

Had these in a folder on my drive. I believe they are from Tank Encyclopedia, which I feel is generally reliable as a source. Not perfect but usually OK if you double check.

The photos certainly appear to be genuine Grenada ones. Note the wading trunk. I believe they were Rise/Passive 60a1’s.

I think I possibly maybe remember reading somewhere about them not having main gun ammunition, just MG. But I could be absolutely totally completely wrong on that memory. Age has a way of doing that to you.
