Awesome! Would like to be there when you crank it up!

Richard,
The front grill came out PERFECT :ok_hand: :racing_car:
I’m still amazed how you built the display base so that the tires while touching the road, really don’t support the weight of the model, which should make the metal suspension out live all of us.

Bravo, what an update. The lower front body panel fits perfectly and looks so good. (On my Ferrari I’ in the final stages of sanding and polishing my exterior side panels and your success is a terrific mojo builder for me).
The PE grill - brilliant work and so glad you work out a technique and system that works so well. Yup, some times we all wonder how the manufacturer actually was able to build and assembly by following their instructions.

Whoa Nellie - as the late Kieth Jackson use to say - exquisite work on both the grill and body panels. What a gem in the making.

Ignition wiring done - firewall plumbing done.

Exhaust components painted and polished and ready to go together.

Tomorrow may see the exhaust go together…
Stay tuned.

Well, in the Art trade where I once worked this would be designated “Museum quality”, and if it ever went into a prestigious historic automobiles auction (scale models section) I’d suggest a reserve figure (i.e. under which it was not to be sold) in the high hundreds. And it wouldn’t surprise me if hand-to-hand combat broke out between competing bidders. I would likely be one of them :tumbler_glass:

Great work Richard. It is a delight to watch the progress on this build.

@Dioramartin Tim, if anybody thought they would get this in the high hundreds I can only quote that great Australian philosopher, Darryl Kerrigan “Tell him he’s dreamin’!”

Sorry Richard, you may have to be antipodean to get that one.

Even better - “that’s going straight to the pool room!”

The awesomeness on this build just keeps getting more awesomer Richard, absolutely outstanding!

That looks so incredible.

Thanks Michael & Damo wow so I still got it, standard auction practice in action right there! (a) don’t raise the vendor’s expectations by suggesting a bullish reserve in case the room’s full of corpses – it does happen & of course auctioneers never, ever take bids off the chandelier no sirree absolutely no way at all at all (b) attract buyer interest by publishing a strangely modest low-high estimate range (typically 10% & 25% above reserve) to make ‘em think the auctioneers are idiots who don’t realise what they’re selling, aka a Sleeper – in 12 hours I just snagged you two guys who think so (c) seconds away, round 1 & several bidders slug it out until last buyer standing has (hopefully) bid a multiple of the reserve price, and my work (@ 20%) is done.

The great thing about selling (quality) scale models at one of those big razmatazz car auctions is you have an audience full of pissed-off guys with fat wallets who lost in bidding wars for the 1:1 versions, these make ultra-cool consolation prizes.

I don’t know but I doubt Richard’s selling…unless of course someone makes him an offer he couldn’t refuse, perhaps :horse:  :tumbler_glass:

This is a thing of beauty!

A truly awesome display of skill and perseverance, masterfully done.

Thank you for sharing.

Richard,
With the firewall wiring a the engine ignition wires now in place, it’s getting harder and harder to tell if your posted pictures are your build or a restoration.

Looking forward to your next update and hoping that it will have the Alfetta on it’s own wheels and tires.

Thanks all for compliments - aww shucks - red face here.
Tip of the hat to our mates from the land “ dan unduh “.
Lesson on auction strategy and even a taste of Aussie sitcom ! As they say , everything is for sale if the price is high enough so let’s open the bidding with a start at one bazillion USD . Anyone? LOL .
I have researched my antipode and it seems it is in the ocean just a wee bit west and south of Perth .
As a child I was fascinated by penguins and being native to the South Pole region I asked my mother how they managed to walk upside down - perhaps Michael, Damian or Tim might elaborate… :joy:
Happy modeling gents ! RT

Uh-oh sound the klaxons this thread’s in danger of flying over the banking & I’m partly to blame. My grovelling apologies, but to answer your question (and borrowing from another thread from a few months back which I can’t now pinpoint) I think this covers most queries…

Now about that US$1baz. bid - I’d strongly discourage the vendor from going in No Reserve and bidding it up (illegal most places for a vendor to have a Reserve AND bid up) because they always, always think there’s one more bid out there when there ain’t…and then wonder why they wake up next morning with the horse head. But if you really are in the market you’ve got a perfect environment already, sealed bids in the form of PMs to your mailbox & you can always reject them all :upside_down_face: :tumbler_glass:

Good banter everyone !
Now back to the subject …
Exhaust done but not without some drama - what fit before fit no more . Wound up with a gap at the joint between the headers and the long tailpipe . Formed a strip of brass shim to cover and painted to match .
The quadrafoglio ( sp ?) decals are on . They are the only decals I will use other than the instrument faces .
As this was one of their earlier releases and mine was one of the last I think the decals had passed their shelf life .
Surface of decals all mottled - I did a test and it disappears under a clear coat so I may need to do that .

Paintwork is proceeding on the hood / bonnet and fuel fill door . Remaining is fitting hardware for hood and windscreen . I’m on the fence about trying to replicate the welting for the hood . It will likely interfere with the hood but in all likelihood it will always have the hood off .
Looking for input on this matter so please chime in with your thoughts.

Next post or two may see it done .
Cheers- Richard

I am more of a hood on than off approach. Would like to see the picture with it on. If you didn’t put it on is there room next to the car on the base to lay it? Or will it look a bit awkward.
I like the car without the race numbers fi you didn’t have a particular driver in mind, looks neater. And the exhaust didn’t fit - you must have started to relax as you approached the finish! :grinning:

cheers

I’m no help here Richard. I love the clean look with the hood on, but I also love the open engine bay with the great details on display and the hood beside.

Either way it’s looking awesome!
