Here is a shot of the chains and clutch / primary drive before all is hidden by the primary chain case .
Masterful!
Your bike builds are just increadible, the precision, the finish…
Thanks everyone for the compliments !
Progress milestone - front end joined up with chassis - primary chain case and chain guard installed.
External oil lines installed -
Next up will be adding handlebars and routing cables , then fuel tank .

Sweet! It looks really nice. It is not every day you see 99 year old bike in mint condition.

Another museum-quality build in the making by you Richard, just exquisite. I’ve no idea how much is due to the quality of the kit, and how much is due to you. My inclination is I’d have botched it long before now so I’m betting it’s at least 75% you. A request – I get it’s 1:9 scale but could you include something that nails the scale in a photo, like a finger or jar of glue?
Thank you for the compliments Tim . Much of the credit belongs to Modern Factory Hiro. As this is their newest bike kit they have made some improvements. In particular, the center stand . The vertical parts are cast in two pieces each with photo etch reinforced pieces in between. The white metal itself was a weak point in previous kits . As requested , here is a shot with a glue bottle to give an idea of size -
… and the recently completed handlebars …
Many thanks, funny how it’s always a slight surprise - imagined either smaller or larger! ![]()
All cables , wires routed and installed. Throttle and choke from carb to twist grip and choke lever . Ignition advance from magneto to handlebar lever , high tension lead from magneto to spark plug, valve lifter ( compression release) from lever at timing chest to handlebar lever. Clutch cable from gearbox to handlebar lever and front brake cable from brake drum to handlebar lever.
And exhaust installed…
Up next - fuel tank.
Thanks for looking !
Cheers - RT
I haven’t ridden a motorcycle in forever; I had a little Yamaha dirt bike; my dad raced those and Kawasakis. My mom even rode a Hodaka. Carved out a trail on the undeveloped property next door which was awesome until college.
This kit looks every bit like a showroom piece for an exhibit or dealership. The paintwork looks flawless; I don’t feel like I’m looking at anything other than an actual motorcycle being assembled; not a diecast model. Really the base is what brings me back to remembering it is smaller in scale.
This really is superb work. I guess the kit is pretty detailed (I note the “Sturmey Archer” cast into the gearlever as per full size), but you have to be very skilled to get this sort of result from white metal kits.
Stunning build quality and paint finish! Kindig customs would be quite pleased with that result in full scale and you did it in 1/9.
Thanks to all for the interest and comments - this kit has been a great pleasure and the kind words make it all the better.
Fuel tank installation is a milestone of sorts on motorcycle builds and so we are at that point.
MFH supply you with fixtures for bending wire to size and shape for the kickstart spring and the fuel line from tank to carb.
Fuel tank and oil tank filler caps have been added.
More to come - thanks for looking ! Cheers
A fine looking machine Richard. I watched a clip of one running - great sounding engine classic putt-putt sound.
