Model Industry History IV: Monogram Diorama Sheets | KitMaker Network

Welcome to part four of Model Industry History. This waltz down memory lane still passes through Monogram Models. This episode covers those famous Shep Paine diorama brochures Monogram included with many of their kits in the 1970s.

Fantastic inside look at the goings-on of Monogram’s Dio-sheets from the 1970’s! Thank you!

Those Dio sheets are what hooked me on armor modeling. I’ve barely built anything else since.

I love this history and backstories to some of our beloved aspects of the hobby. I remember how absolutely blown away I was when I first opened up the Black Widow box and found that full color sheet. And the subsequent ones just kept getting better. I think Monogram hit a home run in terms of inspiring people to get into the hobby.

For some reason the text did not format well when I transferred it into the feature. I’ll go back and try to fix that tonight or this weekend.

Nice article Fred, thank you for posting it. Love those diorama sheets. Have several of them as they are one of the modeling items that I collect.
