That is stunning image … unleash hell !!
Love seeing these Rovers geared up and in the fray
Hopefully more will be coming soon when my friends and family members get out of reserves…
I was lucky to get that one.
And hope they stay safe as well …
That is a great set of photos.
A company in Poland, (Scale23 3D prints and scale modelling)made this. Well, they made a shorter version with a hard edge top, so I asked him to change it, which he did, and I’m happy with the outcome.
What do you guys think?
I find this usual in that it looks like the sprocket and carriers are removed in one piece from the final drive for a sprocket ring change! CVRT is similar to this but weights are significantly less whereas British MBT’s the sprocket ring can be removed by just undoing the bolts and pulling it off, once the track is removed. Unless I’m missing something here.
I think thats the only way you can change the rings … I was looking at it as I thought they were changing the final drives initially, then checked the sprocket ring teeth and saw the wear on them. Looks like a design flaw if you count it as a flaw … you can see the raised band on the hub that the ring bolts onto which prevents the inner ring from sliding over … a lot of work if you are caught short out in the field without fitter back up and crane/hoist to lift if from the final drive
The front ring of teeth, can be removed, simply by undoing the bolts on the rear of the ring!! simple. The sprocket only need removing if bot need replacing, which will probably be the norm!!
I think most tank sprocket would be able to be removed, by the crew, although under a lot of strain, like the guy on the right is, but remember, he looks a lot older than you would expect to find, in an army that is not from a nation, with a small population, as is Israel!!
I have looked, and most tanks, would have to have the sprocket removed to replace both sets of teeth.
A post was split to a new topic: Two keepers
