It is a screen intended to pre-detonate an incoming round if the underside of the hull is exposed-as in going over a berm. Believe it is hard rubber plates that hang down on a hinge so they move. No idea how effective they may be in actual use
Nick. Another case of Russian Troops intentionally fragging their commanding officer?
I think someone clicked the “return to sender” option.
Run Forest, run.
I’m building an abandoned 2S19. I am showing many of the sponson boxes and panels open. This is the only image I have of whatever is inside this box. What is it - the white thing? Are there better photos of it somewhere? Thanks. Bob
@Frenchy this looks like a challenge for you mate but knowing your internet skills I’m sure you’ll find out what that is for Robert.
The thing looks like an enlarged jerrycan with 2 openings. The cyrillic abbreviation translates into RRBG.
Could it be the Russian equivalent to the British boiling vessel?
Olivier
I’m afraid I’ve got nothing to offer regarding Robert’s question…
Here are at least some other open sponson boxes

I couldn’t find the answer myself. Repost the question on the Karopka forum. If there is information, I will write.
@fromSalekhard thanks for your help Yuri
Good thread to think of starting @Klaus-Adler … 4 months old, 4.7k replies and 117K views … pretty impressive
Yep, thanks. I have been using these very good reference photos for my build. Maybe I’ll just keep this one closed. The kit doesn’t mean to have these ones open anyway - I’d have to do some surgery.
