Cant disagree with that, Khouli but at some point the artillery duel goes on until the other side becomes combat ineffective and unable to hold ground due to logistical supply issues, casualties or just morale. At that point the armour is what you use to apply the coup de grace, it is the breaking blow.

Since both sides are dug in and trading artillery fire, there are a lot of drones up etc then i would guess the use of armour on any meaningful scale is greatly curtailed, as you say.

I think the heavier AT missiles and current gen kinetic penetrators are so lethal these days that it doesnt really matter what tank youre in, you get hit by one of these and you will be penetrated, which is usually fatal.

At the end of the day, no matter what the clever armour packages are, a tank is still a large box filled with flammable fuel and a lot of explosives. There is only so much anyone can reasonably do to mitigate that. If you get penetrated, bad things happen. I would be amazed if C2/C3, M1-A3, T-14, T-90M, K9, Leo 2A7+, Merk 4M and latest batch Leclerc perform radically different in really meaningful ways to each other if you start punching holes in them with heavy AT weapons and KE penetrator rods.

This is why I think AP systems are the way forward. The thick armour on current MBTs is there to protect them from anything that isnt a KE rod or heavy ATGM.

It’s very cool, reminds me of the Japanese anime birds. The Japanese obviously stick to the “go big or go home” rule!!
