Would anyone know if the ZTZ-99A tracks are used on ZTZ-96Bs? I know information out there is scarce, based on the photos I find, the tracks are similar but not exactly the same.
I am looking for a replacement for the rubber tracks in Meng’s ZTZ-96B set and the only viable option seems to be the Bronco set.
I was curious about the type 96 so i went to wikipedia there are pics of the ZTZ-96 with type 59 type tracks and drive sproket hope the pic helps maybe there is so aftermarket tracks available
The kits of ZTZ-96 of Hobby boss have the same tracks of T-54,and this is what appears on a wide number of photos including the one shown above.
I think that Meng has reproduced a more recent version with different wheels, engine and tracks, but I don’t know well it and I don’t know if the old style tracks are compatible.
Trumpeter has its own line of indy (workable?) tracks for Type 99, both with metallic and with rubber links. I don’t know if they are better or worse than those of Bronco.
I think that the same tracks are used for Type 96, 99 and sometimes with older types as type 88. The prototype of type 99, often known as type 98, had T-54 style tracks that were replaced on production tanks. So, I think that the tracks and probably the sprockets are interchangeable.
Thanks Massimo, at this point I can only hope those are interchangeable. There are very few photos out there…
The Bronco one is indeed much nicer than Trumpeter, I see also a metal version on Aliexpress but that’s not truly movable and looks bad around the sprocket and the idler.
So you have already examined the Trumpeter set? Have you bought it?
I would like to know if the Type 99 tracks (Bronco or Trumpeter) fit on the sprockets of T-54 style tracks or it is necessary to change the sprockets aside the tracks.
I have built the Type 99 of HB, and I am not fully satisfied of their link tracks included in the kit, that are poorly detailed; worst, I didn’t manage to bend the link connectors as I usually do in proximity of the sprockets and idlers, the plastic was too rigid.
I don’t know if the tracks of HB Type 99 are the same sold by Trumpeter in their track link set, I suppose no but I would be sure.
In this regard, I think that the tracks included into the kits of Bronco could be much better.
