Movie accurate Das Boot

I’ve started building the Revell 1/144 Das Boot kit and I want to build it as from the movie.

The movie version has 10 mooring bollards and 2 other things that must be some sort of other mooring device.

Anybody know what they are called?

Cheers Frenchy

Been searching since last night and couldn’t for the life of me find what they were.

Definitely the open chock.

Thanks again

I love the idea of this project and I wish you luck on completing it. I’ll definitely be following along.

Thanks Tom

Haven’t taken any photos yet as only just put the decking on for now.

I did make a start on the conning tower and removed the molded on hand rails ready to install some brass ones but was not convinced as it left a visible line and took off a few rivets in the process.

So I ordered a 3D printed one from AliExpress.

I also ordered some styrene rods various sizes to make the bollards and some 2mm wooden rigging blocks”smallest I could get” for antenna conductors.

Found this upgrade set from Fstar models.

It’s for the Trumpeter kit but I’ll only be using the 3D printed stuff and it comes with 12 bollards.

Plus the attack periscope base is far better than the kit one.

Check with the company called modelmonkey.com, a 3-D manufacturer, they are in North Carolina in the United States. I purchased a set of blocks single shelve blocks to use as insulators for a 1/144 scale sub.

Also, if you have access to a 3-D printer, insulator STL files are widely available for free downloads, I got mine from printables.com.

Thanks for the link.

They do look good and I will keep it as my fall back if the wooden blocks I bought are not good enough.

These are what I got today.

They look bigger in the photo but they are tiny.
