Moving clubs toward digital membership cards?

They interpreted it as ‘take that offer and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine’ ?

Pretty much; I was just trying to be humorous. Lesson learned: know one’s audience(!)

Looks like the thread took an interesting detour bringing it back to the original question around eMembership cards. From what I’ve observed across a few hobby clubs and small community groups, the shift to digital has been less about “trend” and more about practicality. Members really like the convenience especially when the card sits in something like Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. It makes check-ins faster and removes the usual “I forgot my card” problem entirely. That said, the transition isn’t always smooth. Adoption tends to vary by group younger members usually jump on it quickly, but some older or less tech-comfortable members still prefer a physical card. Because of that, many clubs end up running both formats side-by-side for a while. I’ve also come across platforms like Membership Anywhere that try to bridge this gap by connecting digital membership cards with things like event access, renewals, and quick member verification. The setups that seem to work best are the ones where the digital membership card is tied into something useful like this. If it’s just a digital replica of a plastic card, people don’t see much added value. Personally, I think hybrid systems are the most realistic approach right now. Curious to know has anyone here actually gone fully digital and removed physical cards altogether? Did members accept it long-term, or was there pushback?
