Great photos Dan! Thank you for sharing
Glad to do it!
I worked there from May 1987 until April 1991and watch all the original instillation of the hanging and floor aircraft. I crawled in and sat in most of those early airplanes before they were hung up, I sat in that Apollo Command Module once just for grins. I was also the person who started the ball rolling on getting a Blackbird when I read that they were being retired and going to museums. What I didn’t expect was to get the Grand Prize, the M/D-12, we were hoping for just an SR-71. A LOT of things have changed since I was there, and some more since the last time I was there a few years ago. What started out as a dream as a place to hang a B-17 (really), has become one of the world’s best aviation museums. Its archives are among the best in the world, containing the photo collections of some of the world’s best aviation photographers of the past, some of whom I’ve had the honor and pleasure of calling friend. If you haven’t been, GO. I would still go there if I didn’t live so far away now.
You know all the cool places !!!
