And the Before:

A current work in progress: O scale. Again for resale at the local hobbyshop.

Will be adding flooring, carpets, window glazing and external advertising signage.

And now a little more work.

  • Painted window trim.
  • 2 floors and roof installed
  • Added sidewalk

I have a couple of nice diecast Studebaker Champions in the stash. I think this is going to become a small Studebaker Dealership.

Not exactly structures but the hobbyshop had a bunch of these 1/43rd scale trucks. (Almost O scale) But they were not selling. So i got some assorted decals out of the shop’s decal files to add commerical and railroad logos to their doors and now they are selling like hot cakes (at a slightly higher price too!)

Here are some O scale structures - a guy in Florence, CO has the largest private collection of O scale items I’ve ever seen. They’re even in his rest room. This is but a very small sample:

Another recent rehab project was this small Lionel Power Station. While not rusted, the paint was heavily chipped and flaking off.
I used scotch tape to mask the windows and doors and then sanded, primered and repainted everything else. - - I rather like the finished result.

Not really sure just what this structure was originally but it came to us badly broken and missing many parts.

So now I give you

Christmas really emptied out the built-up structure section at the Hobbyshop. So besides the Pole Factory seen above, here are a few “odds and ends” rehabs done this week to restock.

Very realistic paint on the cottage. It’s a plastic kit, right? Did you also cut away some of the shingles along the eves?

The Cottage is an all wood craftsman style kit. No to cutting shingles. Those are the Campbell’s brown paper shingles and they have become irrigular on their own.

The only things plastic seen there are the gray steps and that small side porch without an awning/porch roof.

I am imagining this to be an old country Doctor’s residence with that third door being an entrance to his office.

Third door?

Sorry about that Ko, I failed to show the other side of the cabin.

The third door around the other side. A door on each porch plus the office entrance.

This one sold at the Hobbyshop in less than 24 hours. Otherwise I would have gone back to hang a Doctor’s Shingle off that one side door.

The latest is this rejuvenated Atlas HO water tank / water tower:
Size, detail and proportion wise I think this is one of the best HO water towers in the business.

A lot of details in those.

Awesome! That will be a fine addition to their layout.

I really like the effects painting on that water tower.

Still want to give this sort of thing a try. Still have no idea where to start.

I first painted the yellow tank a deeper shade of orange. Then went over the orange with a brown wash.
The supports were painted a medium dark green which I went over with a black wash.
The concrete foundations were painted lite gray and then gone over with more of the black wash.
After that i added the ground cover and the overgrown weeds.
Finally the water spout was first painted silver and then treated wiith a rust colored wash.
The final step was to spray the entire model with a matte spray (Tamiya TS-80) matte clear to hide any shine that might be coming from the glue or paint.

Nice builds Michael, as per, I especially like the water tower, a very striking edition to any layout, :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:.

I’ve still got mine packed away. Some parts knocked off but it still looks okay.
