This is my latest diorama finished. It is maybe the second or third non-military diorama I’ve attempted.
The Land Rover is the AK model in 1:35
The guy is from the MB motorcycle mechanic kit
Bicycle is Tamiya
Lady & fire hydrant are from the parts box (origin unknown)
Tools & cans are Miniart’s ‘Garage Workshop’
Everything else is scratch built.
Fantastic details everywhere !!
Charles that is very nicely done! I like your attention to the small details which really completes the scene. Things like the dirt in the garage corner, little weeds where people wouldn’t have walked but none in high traffic areas, dirt in the gutter and the subtle mould towards the lower parts of the wall. The cobbles are also very good with some small and realistic undulations. Thanks for sharing!
Love it! But if it’s the U.K. we don’t have upstanding fire hydrants, they’re accessed through metal covers to which upright standpipes are attached…
Cheers,
M
Uau! Really loved this one.
Nicely done Charles- beautiful little details everywhere you look. The way you have composed it is quite instructive- the right angle walled sections against the slight angle of the flagstones and cobbles- it just works so well to frame the Landy and the scene in general.
Beautifully done.
I don’t like to nit-pick, but the mechanic’s head appears to be turned the wrong way.
Nice dio with a good atmosphere… You seem to have skipped on the doorframe, however?
The door was originally from a Miniart farm kit. I had it in my ‘extras’ box and decided to use it.
It did seem to be too large for a normal door in 1:35 scale and had I framed it would have looked way too large (in my opinion). I’m going to say that the framework is hidden in the brickwork and consider it in the next diorama that needs a door.
Cheers,
C.
Rob beat me to it - why is he looking under the hood
( bonnet ) when there is cleavage behind him ?
What would be funny, and surely not unheard of, is him trying to sneak a peak with his mechanic’s mirror.
Humm… that sounds like an experienced answer.
Well, given she’s pushing a man’s bicycle she can’t ride dressed like that, it could be a metaphor suggesting she is the town “bike” (ridden by all)…
Cheers,
M
Why does the mens bike have the cross bar? Why does the one with the balls get the one with the bar?
Good question, but I know it hurts as hell when slipping off the saddle…
The crossbar is there to really focus the rider’s attention!
Beautiful little scene—feels like something out of a quiet countryside afternoon. The weathering on the Land Rover is especially well done; subtle but convincing.**
The textures on the grass and base really sell the realism. Did you use static grass or another material for the vegetation? I really like the uneven patchiness—it looks very natural.
Also love the addition of the figure. It gives the scene a peaceful narrative feel.
