My own design and 3D printed Renault FT-17 in 1:35

I designed the little Ft-17 in 1:35 scale in Shaper3D based on scale plans (George Bradford), and my photos of the FT17 at Kalemegdan fortress in Belgrade, Serbia.

The model consists of only a few parts. Please see photos. I’ve included four variants of the turret:

  • Berliet cast turret with 8mm Hotchkiss MG,
  • Berliet cast turret with 37mm Puteaux gun,
  • riveted plate polygonal turret with 8mm Hotchkiss MG, and
  • riveted plate polygonal turret with 37mm Puteaux gun

When it comes to printing, I designed the hull so that it can be printed onto the build plate (see photos). No need for angling it and adding hundreds of supports, which often seem to distort a print.

I printed the model on my Anycubic M3 Max. The layer thickness was 0.035mm, and the print took just over 18 hours. I think it was worth the wait.
